Sala Comacina

The small village, laid down on the western side of the Lario, to the slopes of Monte Costone, in front of the Comacina Island, reachable by boat, is one of the most characteristic towns of Lake Como.
The name takes origin from the longobard denomination.

In fact, from the Edict of Rotari the name of - Sala- designed a room or a part of the building and later indicated in the whole of the longobard - curtis-, the part inhabited by the lord.

Sala Comacina, that in the past was called Pieve d' Isola, was considered an important stay center, as the numerous villas that rose along the coast are evidence.
